Abreviando el término 'sal Allaahu alaiyhi wa sallam'
Pregunta:
Está permitido escribir las letras “saad” *(1) en lugar de ‘sal Allaahu alaiyhi wa sallam’ – y por qué?
Respuesta:
La Sunnah es que escribas la frase ‘sal Allaahu alaiyhi wa sallam’ en su totalidad.
Esto es porque es un duu’a ( súplica), y el duu’a es un acto de adoracion, justamente como si fuera dicho en voz alta.
Al representarlo simbolicamente usando la letra saad o saad –laam – ‘ayn – mim *(2) no es una súplica ni un acto de adoracion, a pesar de si es una declaración o algo escrito.
Por esta razón, este símbolo no fue utilizado por las tres primeras generaciones por quienes el Profeta sal Allaahu alaiyhi wa sallam dio testimonio con khayriyyah (la bondad y la excelencia).
Y con Allah es el tawfiq. Y que la paz y bendiciones sean sobre nuestro Profeta Muhammad y su familia y Compañeros.

*(2) saad –laam – ‘ayn – mim: se refieren a las letras originales en arabe, que harian las iniciales de la frase ‘sal Allaahu alaiyhi wa sallam’, esto se corresponderia en el ingles y el castellano con las abreviaciones saaws, si bien es abreviada de la frase en arabe.

Abbreviating the term 'sal Allaahu alaiyhi wa sallam'
Question:
Is it permissible to write the letter saad instead of ‘sal Allaahu alaiyhi wa sallam’ - and why?
Answer:
The Sunnah is that you write the phrase ‘sal Allaahu alaiyhi wa sallam’ in its entirety.
This is because it is a duaa (supplication), and the duaa is an act of worship, just as if it were spoken out aloud.
To represent it symbolically using the letter saad or saad –laam – ‘ayn – meem is not a supplication nor is it an act of worship, regardless of whether it be a statement or a something written.
For this reason, this symbol was not utilized by the first three generations for whom the Prophet sal Allaahu alaiyhi wa sallam bore witness with khayriyyah (goodness and excellence).
And with Allaah is the tawfeeq. And may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
